Throughout 1999 around a Billion text messages were sent in Britain, now there are a Billion sent every week. This huge growth emphasises more than ever that text messaging is the communication medium of choice for Britons. We enjoy receiving them, we enjoy sending them, and they are very much a part of every day life.
Utilising text messaging as a form of marketing is the logical evolution of the digital marketing industry, and using it in a way that benefits the recipient and the sender is undoubtedly the best way of achieving this.
The blog has been very quiet recently, mainly because we have been focusing on our new product, Stuwd. It is a revolutionary product and it was created out of the knowledge and experience we have gained during the past 12 months.
Stuwd is a service for students, whereby they subscribe to the service to receive student discounts via text message for free. When subscribing, Students tell us their University, Year of Birth, University Year and their Gender, this therefore gives companies an unprecedented opportunity to advertise effectively to thousands of potential customers quickly, easily, and most importantly cost efficiently.
We will be spending the following months building the subscriber database for Stuwd, and aim to have 10,000 subscribers by the end of the year. Subsequently we believe this figure could grow by 2-3,000 per month thereafter.

According to 160 Characters, SMS traffic has increased by 50% worldwide in the past year. In just one year, from the first quarter of 2006 to the first quarter of 2007, 620 Billion text messages were sent worldwide, that equated to roughly 100 messages for every person alive.
This phenomenal growth emphasis’s the importance of text messaging as a communications tool, and also shows that people respond to messages. It further shows how text messaging is currently the perfect, and possibly the best way to interact with potential customers, and that this medium should be utilised as much as possible.
Sorry for the lack of updates, I have been very busy working on the new site, and frankly there wasn’t much to talk about! Anyway, the new site should hopefully be up within the next couple of weeks along with a new product offered by eyeTxt. I will post another update in a couple of weeks detailing this new product.

eyeTxt.com is currently undergoing a radical redesign, this is to prepare it for the launch of 2 new services, I can’t divulge too much information yet about these services but keep your eyes peeled for further announcements.
The site is having a much needed face lift, not only will it look much better, it will also contain far more information than is currently on there. Just some of the features will include our very own fully fledged wiki to help people who need further information on subjects around our business, including SMS gateways, marketing, the software we use, and recommendations for utilising our services better.
We will also add new ways to contact us, utilising the best communication tools on the internet, which include a Skype line, Windows Live Messenger, Aol Messenger, ICQ, Google Messenger, and a website based chat facility called Meebo. We feel that we are in the business of communications, so we should use every tool available to us to communicate better.
